To note, players will need to use Lures to catch Black Bass in NieR Replicant, and that bait can be purchased from the Tackle Shopkeeper in Seafront for 100 Gold each. Fans are thus advised to visit that vendor before they set out on their fishing expeditions, and having a stockpile of Lures on hand is recommended. Indeed, Black Bass can be a bit difficult to catch, and players may have some unsuccessful attempts as they try to bring them in.

With some Lures acquired, fans should head back to the village of NieR Replicant’s main character and cast into the body of water near the waterwheel. Indeed, this is precisely where Black Bass can be found in this remastered action RPG, and it appears to be the only fish that can be caught with Lures there. This makes completing The Fisherman’s Gambit Part 5 quite easy, as fans will not be pulling anything but Black Bass out of the water.
After catching five Black Bass, NieR Replicant players should return to the Old Man in Seafront to complete the side quest and receive an increase to their fishing skill. This turn-in will not mark the end of the Fisherman’s Gambit quest chain, though, and there are actually a total of nine parts. In these subsequent parts, fans will track down Sandfish, Royal Fish, and more, and they will continue to hone their fishing skill as the progress.
Ultimately, these skill increases will allow a player to catch the elusive Rhizodont and earn the Fish of Legend trophy in NieR Replicant. While certainly not every reader will care about getting their hands on that achievement, it is something that fans that are going for the Platinum should keep in mind. Hopefully, this guide has made it easier for those trophy hunters to catch Black Bass, complete The Fisherman’s Gambit Part 5, and continue along the relevant quest chain.
NieR Replicant is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
