Players aren’t required to complete side quests in NieR Replicant, as they aren’t important for seeing any of the game’s five different endings. That said, those that are on the hunt for its platinum trophy will need to complete 30 quests, and easy ones like this are a good place to start.

The first way that players can get watermelon in NieR Replicant is to simply head to the grocery store in Facade. Speak to the shopkeeper here and players will find that watermelon can be purchased for 800 gold pieces. This is one of two ways to acquire watermelon in the game, but it is somewhat expensive early on. Since players will need to go out and get more things for Yonah throughout the course of this quest, it may be wise to take the cheaper option here instead.

Rather than buying a watermelon from the grocery store in Facade, players can purchase watermelon seeds from the item shop here. These seeds can be planted outside the player’s house assuming they have completed the “Shopping List” quest. This seed will only cost players 80 gold instead of 800, though players will have to wait for it to grow before getting the watermelon. Players will also need 10 more watermelons for another quest later on, so it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to buy 11 seeds and start growing watermelons while players are working on other quests.

After players turn in the watermelon to Yonah, she will then ask for a pumpkin. Much like the previous step of the quest, pumpkins can only be acquired from the same two methods. These can be purchased for 500 gold from the grocery store in Facade or bought as seeds for 40 gold from the Village item shop. It’s up to the player whether they want the faster, more expensive route or the slower but cost effective one.

NieR Replicant is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
