Thankfully, more and more apps, sites, and services are providing dark mode support, including the popular Brave Browser. In addition, the popular privacy-focused Brave Browser also supports Night Mode.

In this article, we’ll explain what Night Mode is on Brave Browser and compare it to Dark Mode on Brave Browser. We’ll also show you how to enable Night Mode on Brave Browser.

What Is Night Mode on Brave Browser, and How Does It Differ From Dark Mode?

With people spending more and more time using digital devices, protecting your eyes has never been more important. If you’re using the Brave Browser, protecting your eyes has also never been easier. You can do this using Night Mode or Dark Mode.

Night Mode is a dark theme option available only on the Brave Browser for Android. Dark Mode, on the other hand, is available on the Brave Browser for Android as well as the Brave Browser for Desktop.

Although Night Mode is an opt-in experimental feature, it does not require you to enable a flag. Flags are experimental features that modify the behavior of your browser.

Dark Mode is also opt-in, but it is not an experimental feature and does not require a flag to operate. However, you’ll need a flag to open all web contents in dark mode.

Once you apply Night Mode, it automatically enables the Auto Dark Mode for all Web Contents flag. This flag forces all web content (e.g., Google Docs and Google Search) to open in a dark theme instead of white.

Now that you’ve got a bit of an idea of what these modes are like, we can look at how you can enable them. You’ll find out how to do so in the sections below.

How to Enable Night Mode on Brave

Enabling Night Mode on the Brave Browser is just as easy as enabling Dark Mode on Brave. Here’s how to go about it.

Launch the Brave Browser app on your Android phone. Tap on the three dots (More actions) button in the bottom right corner of your screen. From the menu options, tap on Settings. Scroll up to the Display section and tap Appearance. Toggle on the Enable “Night Mode” switch, and you’re good to go. However, you’ll need to relaunch Brave for the change to take effect. A popup message will appear to that effect. Tap on either Later or Relaunch now.

Once enabled, you can run both Night Mode and Dark Mode concurrently without hiccups. We’ve also covered some browser extensions that prevent eye strain.

And if for any reason you decide that you no longer want to use any of these dark theme options, you can simply follow the same procedure detailed above to disable them.

The Eyes Have It

Whether you opt for Dark Mode or Night Mode, or both, you’ll be doing your eyes a great deal of favor by using a dark theme on Brave. Dark themes are softer and easier on the eyes compared to light themes.

Not only will a dark theme help you to prevent digital eye strain, but it can also help you to overcome reading fatigue. This way, you can read for longer and enjoy your books without stressing your eyes.

A dark theme can also come in handy during an emergency situation in which a bright backlight from your phone can give you away, blow your cover, and compromise your safety.
