If fans already have a deep wealth of knowledge for Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ popular characters, they will likely have a good idea of what their abilities will be. Characters like Hulk are obviously oriented around strength, while Captain America is oriented around defense with his shield. Players must have an understanding of the different moves, redraws, and card plays they have available in each turn, and how each character in the player’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns party can make an ideal use of them. If the X-Men’s Nightcrawler was added to the game as DLC, he could easily be adapted to these mechanics.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Has Great Sequel Potential for Characters
Marvel’s Midnight Suns has a great blend of Avengers characters, as well as the game’s original Midnight Suns members. Watching a budding romance between Blade and Captain Marvel unfold is exciting, for example, while it is also fun to see both team affiliations butt heads as their traditional approaches to conflict clash. Moreover, the X-Men’s Magik and Wolverine are featured in Marvel’s Midnight Suns and will be accompanied by Storm at the end of the game’s Season Pass DLC, but a second Season Pass or full-fledged sequel also has the opportunity to include more X-Men characters.
Many characters are referenced that do not actually appear in the game, such as a few Fantastic Four references and a plethora of characters who are featured in Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ collectible tarot cards. In this case, there are myriad characters who could appropriately translate their own abilities to Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ gameplay.
Nightcrawler Could Revolve Around Moves in Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Nightcrawler’s mutant ability allows him to teleport anywhere that he can picture in his mind. His inclusion in Marvel’s Midnight Suns would ultimately have to represent his abilities in a more constrained way for balance’s sake, but it would mean that he could effectively be a character who is oriented entirely around map positioning.
Players begin each turn with only one possible move in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, meaning only one character is allowed to reposition themselves somewhere else on the battlefield or shove themselves into an enemy. There are multiple other ways for additional characters to move, however, such as if they are commanded to trigger an explosive or throw a boulder, as well as if their card ability moves them somewhere to be able to hit a particular target.
There are also many ways to gain more traditional moves, such as through combat items, but Nightcrawler’s attack, skill, and heroic cards in Marvel’s Midnight Suns could also grant him free moves. This would make Nightcrawler’s ability to reposition himself endless, and as a way to balance his other cards, he could have a low damage output or a higher heroism cost in order to play those particular cards. Either way, Nightcrawler and many other Marvel characters would have abilities that fit Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ tactical combat gameplay well.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
