Here’s an introductory guide to using Nimbus Note and a preview of some of its best features for productivity.
The Basics of Nimbus Note’s Editor
Nimbus Note utilizes a block editor similar to that seen in Notion, which offers an abundance of options to format your work. All the available blocks can be viewed through the commands list, accessed by typing the / key.
You’ll find an array of formatting options on the commands list, including but not limited to bullet lists, numbered lists, checkboxes, quotation blocks, and section breaks. With this impressive list of commands, you can easily create content-rich pages.
Organizing and Navigating Your Pages in Nimbus Note
Making your notes neat and presentable is simple in Nimbus Note. First, you can format the text with three heading sizes (H1, H2, and H3) accessed through the commands list. This will automatically generate an outline of your document, similar to Microsoft Word’s Navigation Pane feature. Then, use the Show table of contents button on the far right of your note’s title to preview the structure.
You can also paste the outline anywhere into your document as a block by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + O. This will display a hierarchy of your page’s headers that, when clicked, will help you jump to the relevant section.
How to Use the Collapsible Headings Feature
It can be overwhelming when pages become littered with content. Not only do your pages look untidy, but it can also be difficult to find important information scattered in a sea of text. Collapsible headings are a unique feature of Nimbus Note that resolves this issue, allowing you to hide and display content within your page dynamically.
As with regular headings, there are three sizes available to choose from in the commands list, and any collapsible headers created will automatically be added to the document’s outline.
To use this feature, select one of the heading sizes in the commands list, give it a title, and type whatever content you wish underneath the header title. (This will automatically indent the content.) Then, you can easily hide and show any created content by clicking the toggle button labeled Collapse Heading.
This feature can help highlight only the essential information within your document. You can also use this as a revision tool to test your knowledge by hiding and revealing answers to questions and learned topics.
How to Create and View Task Lists in Nimbus Note
The Task List feature in Nimbus Note combines note-taking experience with efficient task management. Typing the command /Task list or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + D will generate a special block reminiscent of a to-do list where you can add tasks on the go within your document.
You can add labels to tasks using the small label icon located to the right of each task to help categorize tasks. Business users can also add collaborative tasks.
Task lists are a great way to stay on top of what needs to be done and can help with task batching. You will see an option labeled Tasks in the sidebar on the left side of the interface. Clicking this will open up a hub of your created task lists where you can view or edit tasks and filter them via the Completed and To do categories.
How to Reference and Link Pages in Your Workspace
One of the most useful tools offered by digital note-taking applications is the ability to reference other pages using links. Nimbus Note is no exception, allowing you quick access to your ideas across your workspace.
To create a page reference, type the @ command followed by the name of the page you want to link to, then select it from the list that appears.
If you think of a great idea for another page while working, Nimbus Note also allows you to convert the text into the title of a new page using the Create page tool as outlined below:
Page references are a great way to stay on top of your workspace’s organization and are helpful for quickly transitioning back and forth between different pages.
Using the Hint Block in Nimbus Note
The Hint block in Nimbus Note allows you to add another layer of perspective to your work. Creating a hint formats text in an emphasized block as demonstrated below:
To implement this block, type “hint” in the commands list or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + U. You can also change the hint icon by clicking on it to open a list of emojis. Use the hint block to outline key information, provide summaries or add notes to yourself.
Transforming Blocks of Content In Nimbus Note
Nimbus Note makes it simple to transform blocks of content via the Convert to tool. To do this, hover your cursor over the desired block, where you will see three dots appear on the left-hand side. Clicking this will open a menu where you will see the Convert to option, allowing you to change the type of block applied to the selected text.
For super productive users, you can achieve this without moving the mouse by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A to highlight an entire block, then use the relevant shortcut for the new desired block to transform it instantly. The shortcuts are listed in the commands list menu.
How to Add Comments to Your Pages
Nimbus Note’s Comments feature also helps add further perspective to your work. You can access the Comments by highlighting text and selecting the comments icon in the menu (outlined below).
This can be a useful self-reflection tool if you are working alone, and if there are many people in your workspace, you can use the @ symbol to mention other people.
