The first event to hit Ninjala will be the Ippon Matsuri (Festival). From July 21, 10:00 PM - July 27, 1:59 AM, students of the World Ninja Association will celebrate the 1st Ippon Festival by trying to score as many Ippon as possible in their matches. All Ippon scored in Normal, Ranked, and Room Battle matches, will be counted towards a final total, and ninjas will unlock a reward depending on the scale of their success.

Aside from challenging ninjas to score lots of Ippon, the Ippon Festival will also a feature a Twitter promo campaign (with a 1,000 Jala prize), and bonus in-game match rewards: the probability of being rewarded Ninja-Gum, Assist Codes, and Gold Medals will be increased, and players will also earn extra silver and bronze medals.
Players excited about the new festival were also delighted to see Dev Diary #7 become available shortly after learning about the community event. The diary gives players a look at the upcoming Season 2, which is set to feature a new stage, Shinobi City, and an entirely new weapon class: Boards. This onslaught of updates comes in the footsteps of Ninjala’s quick climb to 3 million downloads.
The new stage will be heavily Japan-inspired and feature tight alleys full of drones. Board Class weapons will resemble skateboards, or giant sticks of gum, for example, and will introduce new special abilities, passives, and ninjutsu. Players using a Board Class weapon will have access to the new Shinobi Beast ninjutsu, which morphs the player into a Venom-like beast that can destroy a drone in one slash. Given that the developers are already starting to refine the ranking system, players have been eagerly anticipating additional content like this. Season 2 will bring these changes and more to the bubblegum brawler on August 26.
Ninjala is available now on Switch.
