The developers also gave fans a glimpse of some of the work being done on the anime behind the scenes. Several pieces of concept art were revealed, giving gamers a look at what Berecca and Burton would possibly look like in the show. Artwork for Lucy was seen as well. The series is expected to release in January 2022, and the developers noted that more updates regarding the project are coming in the months ahead.
This is not the first time that the places and characters of Ninjala have been reimagined in anime form. Since the game was released, several episodes of a cartoon anime launched on YouTube relating to the game. A 3D animated short film was also unveiled in March of 2020, revealing what happened leading up to the events in the video game.
In addition to the announcement of this new anime, the developers disclosed info about Season 8 of the Ninjala video game. According to the developer, the theme of the new season is “Animals.” Furthermore, they revealed that it begins on December 2 and runs through March 9. Some of the features arriving with the new season include a new mode, tournaments, and weapons. In addition, several new Shinobi Cards are being added. These cards are Iron Bind, Life Recovery, Reduced Cooldown, and Explosion.
This new developer diary comes as the development studio for Ninjala was recently acquired by Tencent. As a result of this business move, it will be interesting to see how the company uses this new anime to grow the Ninjala franchise. Regardless, this upcoming show is likely to have much of the same exuberant personality seen in the video game.
Ninjala is free-to-play and available now on Nintendo Switch.
