The biggest hurdle that that’s currently standing in the way of any potential sequel is the fact that Ninja Theory doesn’t actually own the IP for a game like DmC: Devil May Cry. You need to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription service to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate online. For a game as fast paced as Smash where players need situational awareness and fast reactions, the online play has terrible latency and lags a lot. This makes it really hard for players to react fast. Nintendo has been offering players their Nintendo Direct LAN Adapters to provide a “faster” experience online, but we don’t know if the latency issues are just a sham where Nintendo is trying to sell their $36 adapters....

Since this news was so hyped by both Nintendo and Spike, many gamers assumed they’d be in for a significant reveal. While dreams of a new The Legend of Zelda for Wii U or additional Super Smash Bros. information tantalizingly danced in fans’ heads, Nintendo surprised everyone with instead offering an update on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Fils-Aime reconfirmed news that had previously leaked earlier in the week, officially unveiling that the eternally grumpy ape, Cranky Kong, will at long last be making a playable appearance in Tropical Freeze....

News of the Nintendo Switch figures comes by way of a sales report from the company, where it also revealed numbers for 3DS handheld sales. Of course, the big item on the docket were those Switch sales numbers, and considering how much positive buzz has been surrounding the console it’s no surprise Nintendo is willing to offer the info up so freely. Anyone who has tried and failed to purchase a Switch will know that the system is selling like hot cakes....

The effects of the ban are, again, platform specific. That means that only the banned 3DS will feature disconnected online services. Funnily enough, the Nintendo eShop will continue to work on these banned handhelds, as well as the Miiverse. Everything else, from online multiplayer in all games to services like YouTube and web browsers, is disabled. That’s likely no bother to offline game players and homebrewers, but that’s no recompense to modders who enjoyed online multiplayer....

Nintendo has just released its financial results for the three-month period spanning from April 1 to June 30, 2016 – and the results aren’t pretty. Net sales for the first quarter totaled approximately 62 billion yen ($587.8 million), which represents a massive 31.3% drop when compared to the same period in 2015. This drop was attributed to a big decrease in sales of both the 3DS and the Wii U, as well as the performance of a stronger Japanese yen, the appreciation of which caused significant exchange losses....

The Switch keeps track of how long players have spent with individual games — in much the same way that the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS all tracked player activity. However, this feature only takes effect after the console has been in use for around seven days. Switch owners can access their stats by heading to their profile via the icon at the top-left of the home screen. From there, they’ll see a list of the games that they’ve played on the console....

What’s more, according to Nintendo, the variation has been fixed and all future Nintendo Switch consoles should be without the sync issue. That’s good news considering Nintendo is looking to double production on the Switch to meet the very high demand. Obviously, the statement from Nintendo will do little to ease the frustrations of current Nintendo Switch owners, but it likely makes the console more enticing to those that were on the fence....

ESPN’s “College GameDay” crew had the Crimson Tide coach on set for its pregame “Championship Drive” show, and everything seemed to be going well — that is, until Lee Corso waxed poetic about how he was undefeated when picking LSU. That includes against Alabama in the regular-season “Game of the Century.” Corso then donned Mike the Tiger’s headgear and held up a jersey that read “Corseaux,” all while Saban laughed along....
