A couple of days ago, the SWT in a statement revealed that it is being forced by Nintendo to cancel the 2022 world championship as well as all future events. Available through Hacker One, Nintendo is offering anywhere between $100 and $20,000 for vulnerabilities found with the Nintendo Switch hardware or software. Some examples given by the company include system vulnerabilities such as “privilege escalation from userland,” “kernel takeover” and takeover of “ARM TrustZone” while some vulnerabilities of “Nintendo-published applications” for the Nintendo Switch include “userland takeover.” The company is also interested in finding exploits regarding privacy and cheating....

Parts shortages, scalpers and the COVID-19 pandemic have bogged down console production across the gaming industry, but the pressure has finally begun to ease. The PS5 was perhaps the worst hit, with Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan only recently expressing that PlayStation 5 shortages were finally over. Unfortunately, it appears that the age of importing quirky games from other territories will end once the 3DS is released in North America this March. This concern came up during Nintendo’s 80th annual general shareholders meeting, where the company said there are no current impacts on Nintendo Switch games slated for this fiscal year, ending on March 31, 2021, and that it is taking measures like working from home to stop the spread of disease. While nothing is officially confirmed, a job listing on Square Enix’s Business Division appears to be for a position on Business Division 6. For those who don’t know, Division 6 typically works on the Nier franchise amongst others like Dragon Quest. Interestingly enough, the job listing basically confirms the franchise in question by including a note from Nier: Automata director Yoko Taro and producer Yosuke Saito. Stopping short of giving all the details, Taro and Saito explain that the position is for NieR scenario staff....

Those who pick up NieR Replicant because they are fans of its sequel Nier Automata will likely be satisfied, as the two games have comparable overarching themes, gameplay, and – sharing a writer, Hana Kikuchi – intriguing stories. Amongst the updates, one significant highlight was the announcement of an upcoming anime based on the series.
