Earlier today, Nintendo announced they would be taking down their online services on both the Wii and the DS/DSi consoles on May 20th. The news actually came by way of a Nintendo of Australia press release, but the company then confirmed that the disconnection would be global. So, what exactly does taking down online services mean? For starters, it means that any Wii, DS, or DSi game that requires a Wi-Fi connection for some component, multiplayer or otherwise, will lose that functionality....

Recently, it was discovered that the Wii Shopping Channel for the Nintendo Wii and the DSi Shop for the Nintendo DSi family of handhelds had been shut down. Both digital stores have been offline since Wednesday, March 16, according to Eurogamer. While shutting down these classic shops might not surprise some, the nebulous circumstances surrounding these closures are somewhat perplexing. Dragalia Lost is a collaborative project between Japanese mobile game studio Cygames and Nintendo. It originally launched back in September 2018 as Nintendo’s first mobile IP that had no prior appearance on Nintendo hardware.
