Super Mario Party released in October 2018, offering fans a title with its own unique spread of boards and minigames. It was well received, though a lack of content left many wanting more. This seemingly bizarre decision to add online functionality three years after launch may have been a test for Mario Party Superstars, which included the option at launch in October 2021....

Speaking on the success of the game in a recent interview with Polygon, it seems Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser has been incredibly impressed with New Horizons’ performance. Speaking on the game’s reception, the Nintendo executive cited its global success as being “well beyond expectations,” claiming the team had no idea it would become such a significant cultural behemoth in the weeks following its release. The patent itself was filed in Japan on October 16, 2014 by Nintendo, and has only just come to light now thanks to the traffic and English translations it has receive via NeoGAF. Apparently the odd-looking, U-shaped peripheral would have been used for fitness games. Truthfully, the design of the controller makes it look as if it was originally planned as a Wii U controller, but it’s unknown what the Big N has or may have once had planned for the device....

With so many spin-offs and games already available within the Pokemon universe, it isn’t exactly surprising that Nintendo is asking fans their opinions on which titles they prefer. It’s not unheard of for a gaming company to ask for feedback from its player base in a survey. For example, back in April, Activision Blizzard held a controversial survey asking fans what they thought of the inclusion of NFTs in gaming....

As part of its Nintendo Switch livestream event, Nintendo revealed that the Switch console will offer between 2.5 and 6 hours of play time while outside of the dock. The differences in use time will depend on the game and the experience that is on offer. Unfortunately, Nintendo did not fully detail how exactly the battery life will be impacted by experiences. It would be safe to assume that if the joy-con controllers were being used outside of the Switch console, then the battery life might drain more quickly, but that might be the only case....

For the uninitiated, Snipperclips has players donning paper characters who can cut their compatriots into unique shapes and sizes. The puzzles of the game will require players to snip themselves into certain shapes to solve puzzles and complete levels, with the game featuring single player, co-op, and competitive game modes. Snipperclips is being developed by SFB Games, a studio which has primarily focused on games for mobile devices - so in a way, the Nintendo Switch is a fitting way for the studio to make its entrance to the current generation of consoles....

This led to the original Switch’s Joy-Cons being subject to a lawsuit in the US. Reports now suggest that the days-old Switch Lite has the same issue and has been added to that lawsuit as offending hardware. Nintendo said previously that it would (in the US only) replace faulty Joy-Con controllers free of charge if customers got in touch. But the controllers are removable on the original Switch, making it easier to send them off for repair or replace them yourself....

This month, Lovedale and Obacha returned to Nigeria together to donate the 700 pairs of shoes that Obacha’s shoe drive had collected. While overseas, the two are working together under the umbrella of Lovedale’s “Access 2 Success” foundation to distribute shoes and basketball supplies to players in need. In a post to his official Twitter account, Ninja informed everyone that he had just reached three million followers on Twitch, which would make him the first broadcaster on the livestreaming platform to reach that impressive milestone. “I am astounded,” wrote Ninja, who also announced plans to stream “all freaking night” in celebration.
