Games are only half the story. System updates promise to bring new features to Miiverse, add Virtual Console titles to the Wii U eShop and speed up the system’s notoriously slow loading times. The first (and most exciting) of two pending Wii U system updates is scheduled nebulously for Spring, with Iwata’s comments during the Nintendo Direct presentation suggesting an April time frame. The Spring update will begin the process of reducing Wii U’s load times, and shortly after the update goes live, so will Virtual Console on Wii U....

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a collection of 3D Mario games ported over to the Nintendo Switch under one handsome label. The games included are Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. With an amazing line up such as that, it’s not surprise that fans are speaking out in support. During Nintendo’s 77th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in Kyoto, Japan, a shareholder pointed out that Nintendo has one trillion yen in its war chest, which equates to almost $9 billion. Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima explained that this is because the company needs to invest in recent “technical innovations.” Nintendo must also “hoard” for “developing future hardware and software, our IP, mobile, video content, etc.” As Nintendo’s business often experiences “high and low cycles,” the company needs that money to be prepared for whatever may come its way....

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has just two new fighters left to be released before its roster is complete. Many fans have expressed their interest in a third Fighters Pass to bolster the list of playable characters even more, but game director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed on multiple occasions that the last two characters in the second Fighters Pass will be the title’s last. In the newest Nintendo Minute video, hosts Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang showcase new gameplay of Super Mario 3D All-Stars while taking a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about playing the 3 classic Mario titles when they originally released. The 8-minute long video primarily shows gameplay that was originally shown during the Super Mario 3D All-Stars reveal trailer, however, it does show some new sections of the games, such as climbing as Bee Mario in Super Mario Galaxy....

While there are still many particulares concerning the Wii U that have yet to be addressed, including a final design for the console, a lot of its overall appeal hinges on that price. Unfortunately, Reggie’s comments don’t outright point to what pricing category Nintendo is pursuing, but what he does say could hint at where the company may be leaning, and that might have some gamers scratching their heads....

The issue drew more controversy than the cancellation of the Virtual Console, and led to a class-action lawsuit against the video game company. Now it seems that Nintendo’s request to have the lawsuit dismissed has been rejected by a federal judge, but he did allow the case to be handled in arbitration for now. It’s not soon and it’s not wide-scale, but Nintendo will finally be opening its doors to the select few, allowing a handful of fans to try out the Nintendo Switch before anyone else. The company is holding a hands-on event in New York on January 13, 2017. The event will last for five hours and will be preceded by a streamed presentation on January 12 that Nintendo is calling its “Tokyo webcast”....

January isn’t normally known for its huge game releases, but Nintendo is disrupting the traditional post-holiday lull with the current-gen arrival of a beloved Wii U title. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was one of the most-acclaimed Wii U games in that console’s last days, but more players will soon be able to play this awesome turn-based action RPG anywhere on the Nintendo Switch. NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139 (it’s the square root of 1.5; this is math snark) is the remastered version of NieR, a cult favorite action-RPG from 2010. It amps up the production values, adds more quests, and replaces a bunch of content that had to be cut from the original release. It’s the best possible version of itself, made under the creative direction of Yoko Taro, one of modern video gamings’ most famous eccentrics....

With the new DLC, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl saw the aforementioned Teenage Robot’s Jenny Wakeman’s inclusion. Jenny was one of, if not the most requested character, so her inclusion shows that the developers listen to the games’ fans. Alongside Jenny was the revelation that two other downloadable characters are on the way: Hugh Neutron from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, and Rocko Rama from Rocko’s Modern Life. Both these characters were just as heavily requested as Jenny, so fans have a lot to look forward to....

Minaj was scheduled to perform at the Jeddah World Fest in Jeddah on July 18, along with DJ Steve Aoki and former One Direction band member Liam Payne. However, on Tuesday, she told the Associated Press that careful reflection prompted her to not move forward with the performance. “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression,” Minaj said....

Lewis hamilton is one of the more emotional drivers on the grid and the fact that he has been literally toying with Rosberg just shows how mentally weak Rosberg is. His recent outburst in the post race press conference in Shanghai where he blamed Lewis for slowing him down would make you laugh(well…it did make Lewis laugh). If your teammate a.k.a your main rival in the championship is slowing down, then it is the best thing for you because it gives you a chance to overtake him or at least an oppurtunity to put him under pressure....

In the quest “The Tangled Message,” players are tasked with assisting a guard with relaying several messages across the city. The guard explains to the players that because of Rule 56.908, citizens of Facade must interact with others on a regular basis in order to strengthen community solidarity. It is worth noting that before players are able to unlock side quests in Facade, they must first rescue the Prince from the Barren Temple and return him to the city....

The footwear brand is suing MSCHF Product Studio for trademark infringement over the 666 pairs of modified Nike sneakers released in collaboration with the singer’s equally controversial new song and video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” In its filing, Nike asked the court to order MSCHF to “permanently stop” fulfilling orders for the “unauthorized” Lil Nas X Satan Shoes. “MSCHF and its unauthorized Satan Shoes are likely to cause confusion and dilution and create an erroneous association between MSCHF’s products and Nike,” the sportswear giant says in the lawsuit....
